Presentation of the cheque The Beach Hut Other helping hands

The Essex Beach Hut Appeal

The Beach Hut Appeal received a big boost and a welcome addition to their funds – when being presented with a magnificent sum of £1,000 from the then newly formed ‘Heart of Darts’.    This sum put the project on an even keel and enabled much of the work needed to be carried out to be finalised.

The presentation of the cheque was made at one of the Essex County Games soon after Heart of Darts was set up.  Pat Williams, a member of  the ‘The Beach Hut Appeal’ Committee, received the cheque on behalf of the association from Andy Fordham.

The cheque together with other donations from dart teams and leagues enabled the  restoration of a Beach Hut at Thorpe Bay to be completed and it is now regularly visited by people with special needs and disabilities and enables them to be able to enjoy a ‘day at the beach’.

‘Heart of Darts’ is spearheaded by Andy Fordham, Trina Gulliver and well-known Ian Waller who, all being charity orientated, have set up this new venture for the sole purpose of raising money to help smaller unfunded charities, who have to rely solely on donations, to achieve their ‘goals’.

The Beach Hut Appeal was chosen to receive their very first donation as it was felt that it could benefit people from all walks of life and was not restricted to any one charity or organisation – exactly what was intended.   It has now taken the project 'under its wing' and pays for many of the outgoings in keeping it well run and looked after.

I join with many others in wishing Heart of Darts every success in their worthy cause.
